The Environmental Benefits of Repairing and Refurbishing Equipment
According to the Environment agency, redundant equipment is the fastest growing waste stream in the UK, every year thousands of tonnes are sent to landfill.
At the most basic level the environmental benefits of keeping existing equipment in use reduces the demand for new products. That in turn reduces the amount of raw materials which have to be extracted, manufacturing processes undertaken, and the need for global as well as local transportation of goods.
The effects of the climate crisis mean that companies and individuals are facing increased scrutiny when it comes to their environmental impact. Repairing and refurbishing equipment is an important step towards reducing carbon emissions and waste. Doing so also reduces the financial cost to the owners both in terms of reduced replacement cost and the whole life cost of the repaired item.
